How many of us actually go to the spa regularly? We surely don’t. Frankly, we just don’t have the time. Or if we have the time, we don’t have the energy.
And by the time we finally go to the spa, all of our blackheads have names, occupations and kids.
So, we decided this is the year we are going to take matters into our own hands and build our very own in-home spa.
Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t take much to do so. All you really need is a facial steamer, a microcurrent device and a good facial mask.
Since we have a microcurrent device and a favorite facial mask, we just needed to find a facial steamer.
So, we set out to find the best facial steamer for our budget. And because everyone’s budget isn’t the same as ours, we tested and reviewed the best facial steamer in every budget category.
So, how did we determine the best facial steamer for every budget?
First, we set forth three categories: Best high-end facial steamer, best mid-range facial steamer and best budget facial steamer. Then, we narrowed it down by user reviews and then proceeded to narrow it down by functionality.
After that, we gave them a test run and wah-la! We were able to find the best facial steamer in every budget category.
When all was said and done, we took one of these home with us. We can’t say it is our favorite, because our favorite is out of our price-range! But, we love it and it does the job we need it to do.

Best High-End Facial Steamer
Panasonic Nanoe Nano Care EH-SA60-N Gold Ion 2 Way Steamer
The Panasonic Nanoe Nano Steamer is a huge hit in Japan. And, we’re really not surprised. Japanese people are generally healthy and love taking care of their skin. Not only that, they are also known for creating quality and innovative products.
For instance, this steamer uses Nanoe ionic technology to deliver the steam. Nanoe means nano-size charged water particles that are generated by applying a high voltage to water.
There have been multiple studies done that have shown this to suppress viruses and bacteria. So, essentially, this steamer produces some of the most sterile and bacteria-fighting water around.
You may ask, what does this mean for your face? Well, nano-particle ionic steam can penetrate deep into the outer layer of skin. And, in turn, will deliver the purest form of water possible, while combatting all the airborne germs that collect in our pores.
The Panasonic Nanoe Nano has two steam modes. The Platinum Steam Mode which is a 12 minute facial treatment and the Nano-e Mode which you can use to steam your face while you sleep.
During the Platinum Steam Mode, the Nanoe abundantly delivers over a half of a cup of hot water every minute.
If you’re looking for a facial steamer that steams both hot and cold, you may want to check out the salon version of this model.
Now, because this facial steamer is mainly marketed in Japan, it is configured for Japanese electrical outlets. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you use a converter.
Also, the manual is in the Japanese language. So, it is recommended that you either know the language or you use an app to translate the language.
However, we were able to translate the manual and here’s a basic rundown:
- Fill the tank with distilled water.
- Push the outer button to turn on the tank.
- Open the tank and push the button to switch functions from Platinum to Nano-e Mode.
- Within 10 seconds, push start.
- Keep your face about 20cm away.
- Start Steaming.
Overall, we are hugely impressed with the Panasonic Nanoe Nano. If it were in our budget, this would be sitting on our nightstand stand right now.
What we like most about this particular facial steamer is the amount of water delivered and the option of having 2-way steam. There’s nothing like turning on the Nano-e Mode and having some real beauty sleep.
Best Mid-Range Facial Steamer *Editor’s Pick
Panasonic EH-SA31VP Nano Facial Steamer
This is another gem from Panasonic. And, honestly, Panasonic rules the facial steamer market. Hands down, they have the highest quality and most technologically advanced facial steamers out there.
And, since this one is in our budget, we are now the proud owners. 🙂
The Panasonic Nano Facial Steamer delivers nano-sized steam particles 4,000 times smaller than ordinary steamers. This means that the moisture is better able to penetrate the top layer of the skin.
With just a push of a button, the Nano gives you a mini-six minute treatment. And this makes it easy to incorporate into the madness of our lives.
Contrary to the minute size, this steamer gives off a lot of steam. So, even though the treatments are only six minutes, it’s comparable to at least a twenty minute treatment from a lesser model.
And speaking of the minute size, this steamer is so tiny, you could fit it in your handbag. It’s easily portable and takes up very little space.
Overall, we’re very happy with our purchase. We felt that both of the Panasonic facial steamers really deliver much more moisture than all the other contenders. And because of the amount of moisture the Nano delivers, we are able to clean and moisturize our face in half the time.
So, if you’re looking for something in the mid-range, this is by far the best facial steamer for your buck.
OKACHI GLIYA Nano Ionic Facial Steamer
This facial steamer fits in between the mid-range and the budget category. Nevertheless, it made the cut and works fantastic.
The Okachi Gliya Nano Ionic Facial Steamer is not only a steamer but a humidifier. And, being nano and ionic means it will penetrate beyond the first layer of the skin.
When we tested this facial steamer out, we were impressed by the large amount of steam that emitted from the nozzle. And, throughout the 15 minute process, we were wondering if this particular facial steamer should be our pick.
And our decision rested on the brand. With Panasonic, we know we are getting a quality product and we know it’s going to last. With this product, it seems like quality. Although, we have no way of gaging how long it will last.
The other aspect is, Panasonic’s assurance that the nano ions are the finest of all nano ions, is something we are able to trust. Which means, better penetration and ultimately, better treatment.
We just didn’t want to take a chance with this one. However, if this is in your budget, the one thing we can say about this is it works great and our face felt clean and refreshed after testing.
And, not to mention, the fact that it comes with a humidifier makes this facial steamer extremely enticing.
Spaire Nano Ion Facial Steamer
We have two budget picks for best facial steamer and this is because they both left an impression on us.
The Spaire Nano Ion steamer does not feel like a budget steamer. It seems to have much more substance which made a lasting first impression.
The Sparie is extremely easy to use and starts steaming within a minute of opening. Once it starts steaming it steams a constant temperature of 104 degrees fahrenheit. The steam is steady and surprisingly large for a budget steamer.
One downfall we noticed while steaming is there were a few droplets that spurted out here and there. It isn’t a huge deal but it left us wondering if it would get worse over time. Or perhaps, the steamer was greeting us. Whatever the case, we were happy to be sitting the recommended 25 cm away.
Once the 15 minutes of steaming was up, the device shut off and our face felt refreshed and moisturized.
From what we could tell, this is a great value for the money and we are very impressed with the results. As we mentioned before, the quality and construction of the Spaire is way above our expectations.
KINGA Nano Ionic Facial Steamer
This particular facial steamer is our pick for best facial steamer on a budget. And, this device is fabulous. The KINGA Nano Ionic Facial Steamer is extremely powerful and hot. So be sure to give yourself enough room to ensure your safety.
Not only is the steam hot, it heats up within 30 seconds. The full treatment lasts approximately ten minutes and left an overall clean and energized feeling to our skin.
Now, this device not only functions as a steamer, but it also functions as a humidifier. And, we hate to keep bringing budget up, but this is unheard of at this price.
All in all, we have no complaints with the Kinga Nano. We tried to find something that we could report back with and there is nothing. This facial steamer works fantastic and therefore, we highly recommend it.
